it was renamed
as Jiangsu Yixing Light Industry School. In July
2004, approved by Jiangsu provincial government,
Wuxi Institute of Arts & Technology was established
and the organizational system of Jiangsu Yixing
Light Industry School was revoked.
The institute has a competent teaching force.
More than 61 teachers have the rank of associate
professor and 54 young instructors hold Master and
post-graduate degree. What is more, among the faculty
giving specialized lectures and general courses,
the rate of double-degree lecturers is over 70%.
There are lots of famous ceramists, the national
first-class artists and senior glasses trade experts.
On the other hand, the institute provides with up-to-date
facilities including the modern experimental laboratories,
training bases, and a multi-functional library containing
nearly 667,000 books and issues. ¡¡WIAT
has five departments. They are Department of Ceramic
Art & Fashion Design, Department of Art Design,
Department of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering,
Department of Material Engineering, and Department
of Economics and Business. Especially, Ceramic
Art Design, Ceramic Technique and Optometry Technology
are distinctive majors among all the provincial
higher vocational institutes. The institute attaches
importance to the pursuit of Industry¡ªEducation¡ªResearch,
and the achievements which teachers get in teach
and science is plentiful and substantial.

a school, Feature is the basic of consolidating
a school¡±, the institute uses international advanced
educational experiences for reference, promotes
the educational reform positively, and has formed
a distinctive mechanism to cultivate talents.
The graduates¡¯ employment foreground is bright
and the employed rate gets 100% from 2004 to 2006.
¡¡In order to cultivate
high level skilled and applied talents better
and upgrade the talents training quality, the
institute attaches importance to introduce into
high quality educational resources from home and
abroad, and cooperates with local universities
like Nanjing Arts Institute and Nanjing Audit
University to provide more opportunities for students
to study further undergraduate courses. At the
same time, it develops international cooperative
programs positively and has established a long-term
cooperative relation with Mohawk College, Canada
.

present, WIAT Yixing campus covers 465 mus and
the building area amounts to approximately 170,000
square meters, which can hold more than 7,000
students. It is a new ecological, garden and digitalized
campus with mountains merging into waters.
